Absorption vs insulation

These two properties are often confused but solve different problems:

Tiles for absorption

Matching when replacing

When replacing acoustic tiles, match the existing performance — dropping a high-absorption tile for a basic reflective one makes the space noticeably noisier, and weakening an insulating build-up compromises privacy. Identify the existing product and its acoustic ratings, and match like-for-like or an equivalent with comparable figures. Replacement is also a chance to upgrade acoustics in a room that has always been too noisy, if you choose deliberately.
